Seven counties in the south of the country and the capital of Bucharest will be under a Code Orange alert of heatwave and thermal discomfort throughout the day on Saturday, according to a warning published on Friday by the National Meteorological Administration.
In Bucharest and in the counties of Olt, Teleorman, Giurgiu, Ilfov, Călăraşi, Ialomiţa and Constanța, maximum temperatures of 38-39 degrees will be recorded, thermal discomfort will be accentuated, and the temperature-humidity index (ITU) will exceed the critical threshold of 80 units, announces ANM.
At the same time, a Code Yellow warning of heat wave and high thermal discomfort was issued for the counties in the south and southeast of Romania, where on Friday and Saturday the maximum temperatures will generally be between 33 and 37 degrees, and the minimum between 18 and 23 degrees. The temperature-humidity index (ITU) will exceed the critical threshold of 80 units.
On Sunday (July 23) the heat wave will persist in the southern regions, and at the beginning of next week it will extend to most of the country and intensify.
