Meteorologists have issued a code yellow alert for snowfalls in southern Romania, valid as of Tuesday till Thursday morning. A 30-cm layer of snow will lay down in some areas. The weather will be particularly cold on Wednesday and Thursday.
The alert is for March 9, 23:00hrs – March 11, 10:00hrs and involves moderate snowfalls and strong wind.
During the above-mentioned, snowfalls will gradually seize Oltenia, Muntenia, Dobruja, southern Banat and Southern and Curvature Carpathians.
In the south and south-east on the night of Tuesday to Wednesday and in the first part of Wednesday there will be rainfalls and sleet.
Mild snowfalls will be in Transylvania, Moldavia as well.
The wind will blow with 45-55kmph in the southern and southeastern regions and in the mountains.
The weather will be extremely cold on Wednesday and Thursday especially in the south where temperatures will be lower by 8C….10C than the multi-annual average.
The code yellow alert will come into force on March 10, 03:00hrs and will expire the next day at 06:00.
