COTAR calls on President Iohannis to sign Transport Minister’s revocation

The Confederation of Authorized Operators and Carriers in Romania (COTAR) is calling on President Klaus Iohannis to revoke the resigning Transport Minister Lucian Sova.

A release from COTAR on Tuesday, signed by leader Vasile Stefanescu, reads: “We kindly ask Mr. President Klaus Iohannis not to prolong the situation at the Transport Ministry, as we have seen Lucian Sova’s resignation. The transporters are requesting for months the resignation of this ‘zero’ Minister of Transport, who has done nothing for transportation, served the groups of interests or his personal interests, who is too precious to visit the sites in the country  or to talk to us. Now he is a resigning minister, we don’t understand why he is so active every day, since he did absolutely nothing for months.”

Transporters accuse Lucian Sova of non-communication, supporting piracy, maintaining the legal amendments introduced in 2015, decisions against transporters and of promoting unauthorized and unlicensed road transport activities, realitatea.net reports.

Lucian Sova announced last week he has filed the resignation as Transport Minister, nevertheless President Klaus Iohannis said he would not make any decision until after December 1, the National Day of Romania.

PSD has proposed Lia Olguta Vasilescu, former Labour Minister, to replace Lucian Sova.
