EUR 1 M funds for transport links in Romania

European Union’s Ten-T project will co-finance almost 1 million euros studies to develop better transport links between Henri Coanda Airport, the main railway lines and the highways network in Romania.

According to an EC press release, the money will be allotted for feasibility, legal and environmental studies to link Henri Coanda Airport in Bucharest to Brasov-Bucharest-Slobozia-Constanta railway line and the highways.

However an ampler project is aimed here, involving a multimodal terminal for passengers and goods transport in Bucharest-Ilfov region, near Otopeni town, at the crossroads of the highway that links Constanta to Budapest, Hungary and the railway between Constanta and Nürnberg/Dresden, Germany.

The European Commission conditions the project to be concluded by December this year. Its deployment will be monitored the Innovation and Networks Executive Agency (INEA).

EC set up the TEN-T program to support the construction and improvement of the transport infrastructure in EU.
