The National Meteorological Administration announced that it will be cold throughout the country until Thursday morning and it will be freezing at night. A code yellow for strong winds was also issued for eight counties in the southeast of the country.
The weather will be cold throughout the country, frosty on the night from Tuesday to Wednesday especially in the north, center and east (minimum temperatures of up to -21…-20 degrees in eastern Transylvania), and on the night from Wednesday to Thursday May chosen in the east and center (minimum temperatures of up to -16…-15 degrees in eastern Transylvania). Meteorologists have also issued a yellow code for strong winds, valid on Tuesday between 10:00 and 23:00. In the mentioned interval, in the south of Moldova, Dobrogea and the eastern half of Muntenia, the wind will intensify with gusts generally of 55…70 km/h and there will be periods when it will be associated with light snow. On the coast, the wind will continue to show some intensification during the night from Tuesday to Wednesday, ANM also says.
Snowfalls and blizzard play havoc in Moldova
Five sectors of the national road in the counties of Vrancea, Iasi and Vaslui are closed due to heavy snowfall, Tuesday morning. Tonnage restrictions were established on four other sectors in Neamţ, Vaslui and Botoşani counties. A coach with 47 passengers skidded near the town of Doaga, in Vrancea county, announces IPJ Vrancea. A car got stuck in the snow between Tişita and Panciu, three people were evacuated. Several cars were stuck in the snow during the night from Monday to Tuesday, in Galati County, due to the wind and snow, requiring the intervention of road users in order for them to continue their journey or for the passengers to be taken to shelter. An ambulance traveling to a case, a dialysis machine, and several cars were stuck in the snow during the night, on several roads in Botoşani County. Traffic on DN 22 Râmnicu Sărat-Brăila is moving with difficulty on Tuesday due to the blizzard that is blowing strongly and driving snow, reducing visibility. Classes at schools in eight counties are suspended in physical format, with classes to be held online.
Three people were found in the cold and were brought to the Emergency Reception Unit of Buzău County Hospital. One of them is in cardiorespiratory arrest. It is about a 46-year-old woman, a 51-year-old man and a 58-year-old woman.
Because of the wind, maneuvers are also stopped in all Black Sea ports.
