Meteorologists issued new weather warnings for torrential rain, blizzards and hail on Thursday. 14 counties in Romania fall under the Orange Code of heavy rains, where the amounts of water will reach up to 80 l/m2. A Yellow Code for showers and storms has been issued for the west, center, north, southwest of the country and in the mountains.
The first warning is for a Code Yellow of Temporarily Enhanced Atmospheric Instability, which came into effect at 10:00 a.m. and will be in effect until Friday at 9:00 p.m. During this time there will be periods of showers that will also have a torrential character in the west, center, north, southwest of the country and in the mountains. The amounts of water will exceed 25…40 l/m2 and in some places there will be electrical discharges, short-term intensification of the wind and hail.
The weather will get unstable in most regions in the coming days as well.
A Code Orange will come into force on Thursday at 12.00 and will be in effect until Friday at 21.00. In Banat, Oltenia and locally in the mountains, in Transylvania and Crișana there will be periods of torrential downpours, and in short periods of time or through accumulation, amounts of water of 40…60 l/m² will be recorded and in limited areas of over 70…80 l/m2. The targeted counties are Mureș, Vâlcea, Dolj, Mehedinți, Gorj, Sibiu, Alba, Cluj, Bihor, Arad, Timiș, Caraș Severin, Hunedoara and Olt.
