New code yellow alert for heatwave, thermal discomfort and tropical nights

A new spurt of heatwave will affect Romania. Meteorologists have issued a Code Yellow warning of heatwave and thermal discomfort for several counties of the country, which will be in effect until Wednesday morning.

“During Monday, in most of Oltenia, Muntenia and locally in continental Dobrogea, high temperatures will be recorded for this date, and the maximums will generally be between 33 and 35 degrees”, the National Meteorology Administration (ANM) said on Monday.

Locally there will be heatwave and high thermal discomfort, the temperature-humidity index (ITU) being around 80 units. During Tuesday, the yellow code will be extended.

“In Oltenia, Banat, the south-west of Transylvania and in most of Muntenia, high temperatures will be recorded for this date, the maximums will generally be between 32 and 35 degrees and it will be hot locally. Thermal discomfort will be high, with the temperature-humidity index (ITU) reaching and slightly exceeding the critical threshold of 80 units”, ANM also informed.

Locally, the night will be tropical, with minimum temperatures around 20 degrees.

Meteorologists announce that in the coming days the weather will continue to warm up, and the thermal discomfort will be more and more accentuated, so that Romania will be under the influence of a new intense and long-lasting heat wave.

Weather forecast for Bucharest: heat wave and thermal discomfort

Meteorologists have issued a yellow code of heat wave and thermal discomfort for Bucharest as well, from Monday at 10:00 a.m. until Wednesday at the same time.

On Monday, the weather will be warm, with increasing thermal discomfort, so the temperature humidity index (ITU) will approach the critical threshold of 80 units. The sky will be mostly clear, with some clouds in the afternoon. The maximum temperature will be around 34 degrees, and the minimum will be 17…19 degrees.
