New Heatwave Alerts: 40°C Highs, Tropical Nights, and Discomfort

The extreme heat wave extends into Tuesday and Wednesday, according to forecasters. The heat wave will intensify in the areas targeted by a code yellow warning on Monday and the temperatures will reach 40 degrees, while in other counties they will be engulfed in heat.

On Tuesday, August 13, a yellow heat wave code will be in effect in Crișana, south-west Transylvania, north-east Muntenia, south-west Dobrogea, Southern and Western Carpathians, and thermal discomfort will be high, and the temperature-humidity index ( ITU) will slightly exceed the critical threshold of 80 units.

The maximum temperatures will be 35…38 degrees. Local minimums will not drop below 20 degrees and will characterize a tropical night, ANM announced.
