Miners from two shifts from the coal exploitation Lonea are self-trapped underground on Thursday and those from the Vulcan mine came late to the morning shift, after unions failed to reach an agreement with representatives of the Hunedoara Energy Complex regarding the Easter bonuses.
According to Petre Nica, ‘Mountain’ union President, over 60 miners from shifts three and four at Lonea mine have refused to leave the underground after the working hours.
He said that the miners are unhappy that the Easter bonus of RON 230, offered as gift vouchers, as provided in the collective labour agreement, is much lower than last year, of RON 400, also given as gift vouchers.
“These people believe that the Easter bonuses were halved and decided to protest in order to draw the attention to the problems. The miners are not guilty of that management was deficient and that 2014 was concluded with several drawbacks, which is why the minister (Minister of Energy, Andrei Gerea) decided to change the Hunedoara Energy Complex leadership,” said Petre Nica.
According to Nica, on Wednesday evening discussions took place between the union and the CEH management in the Jiu Valley. The talks were resumed in the morning, but so far not no solution has been found.
