A cat was found in a house affected by a fire in the town of Stăneşti, Giurgiu County. Despite being rescued by firefighters through a window from the smoke-filled dwelling, the cat re-entered the house and refused to leave until she saw that her two kittens were also saved.
Firefighters entered the smoke-filled and fire-affected house through a window and managed to rescue the cat. However, it went back inside and refused to leave until it saw that its two kittens were also saved.
“The Giurgiu Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (ISU) was called on Thursday night to intervene in the town of Stăneşti after a family’s house caught fire. When the occupants, two women aged 63 and 33, saw smoke, they exited the house and requested assistance. Firefighters from the Giurgiu Detachment arrived at the scene with two fire trucks and a SMURD ambulance. They found that the fire was in the house’s attic and roof, covering an area of approximately 70 square meters. The women mentioned that a cat with two kittens was inside the house and couldn’t get out. Firefighters entered the fire and smoke-filled house through a window, managed to rescue the cat, but she went back inside and refused to leave until she saw that her two kittens were also saved,” said Nicoleta Beianu, the spokesperson for ISU Giurgiu, on Friday.
The roof, attic, and the room with the stove were damaged by the fire, and two other rooms were affected by smoke. The fire most likely originated from a damaged chimney.
