Spring weather over, to go cold as of Monday

The temperatures registered this Christmas were of about 11 Celsius degrees higher than compared to the typical days of this time of the year. However, forecasters warn the weather will chill starting Monday with the temperatures going down up to minus 18 Celsius degrees.

The lowest temperature registered this Christmas was minus 5 Celsius degrees reported at Miercurea Ciuc in Harghita county on Sunday morning, a much higher temperature compared to minus 33 Celsius degrees in registered in 1998, a low record in this county.

On the other hand, the highest temperature registered this period was 18-Celsius degrees in Râmnicu Sărat, Buzău county on December 26. High temperatures were reported in Oltenia, Muntenia, as well as in eastern and northern Moldavia (15, 16 Celsius degrees), while in Bucharest there were 12 to 14 Celsius degrees.

Yet, forecasters warned the spring weather is over, with the temperatures going down countrywide as of Monday.

The last days of Decembers and the New Year’s Eve will see temperature from 0 to 5 Celsius degrees during the day and -7 and -2 degrees during the night. Snowfalls are possible only in the mountains, and will be mild and temporary.
