STS plans extension of 112 emergency service with RON 13 M investment

Special Telecommunication Service (STS) will hold an auction in April to buy IT&C equipment and software applications in order to modernize the infrastructure of 112 emergency service in Bucharest and Ilfov. The estimated investment amounts to RON 13 M.

The contract will last 5 months and will be financed from the state budget and from non-refundable external funds.

STS is the operator of 112 emergency service, also known as the Single National Emergency Call System (SNUAU).

SNUAU was set up countrywide in April 2005, following a EUR 40 M investment, with Ericsson as main provider. The Swedish giant delivered the necessary software application and equipment to link the centers that were taking over the calls and the emergency agencies.
