The man suspected of vandalising „Elie Wiesel” home, identified

A 37-year-old man from Ramnicu Valcea has been identified by the policemen in Sighetu Marmatiei as a possibile suspect in posting some anti-Semite messages on the outside walls of the „Elie Wiesel” Memorial House in the city, Maramures Police informed in a press release on Wednesday.

Local policemen, who worked together with the Maramures Bureau for Combating Organized Crime, will  continue investigations.

The police officers from Sighetu Marmatiei have been notified ex officio on the morning of August 4 on this case. Unidentified people had written obscene words and expressions on the walls of „Elie Wiesel” Memorial House in the city.

The Embassies of the United States of America and of Israel in Romania condemned the vandalism on Elie Wiesel House in Sighetu Marmatiei, northwestern Romania.
