A three-month-old baby girl from Timis has died of measles, the National Public Health Institute announced on Wednesday. The death toll in Romania climbed to 22. There are roughly 5,000 children diagnosed with measles in Romania.
Most of the cases have been reported in Caras Severin, Timis and Arad. Unfortunately, the vaccine protecting the little ones from this disease is not available in all surgeries.
Authorities will be compelled to supply the needed stocks after the vaccination law comes into force. The law is currently under examination.
Doctors warn that this sudden increase proves the situation is not under control, saying that efforts must be enhanced for the children to be vaccinated or for the the immunization scheme to be resumed.
