A small-size tornado could be seen in Slobozia, southeastern Romania this afternoon. The footage captured by people revealed the tornado reaching the ground and shattering the dust in the field.
A teacher from Calarasi has posted the images on Facebook. “A new tornado in Baragan. May 24, Slobozia Noua-Iazu, Ialomita,” he wrote.
The area was under a strong storm alert on Friday.
A stronger tornado has developed out of the blue in Drajna, Calarasi county, southern Romania early this month, with 18 houses and annexes having been affected. Wind gusts reaching 90kmph have dashed the roofs of ten houses.
Bucharest and Ilfov county have also been hit by a strong storm with heavy rainfalls and thunderstorms on Friday afternoon, with floods wreaking havoc on more streets following a cloudburst.
Firemen were struggling to get the water out of houses and basements. Problems were detected in Pipera and Aviatorilor districts, in the Zoo area, and also in Pantelimon locality.
Traffic of trams no 41 has been blocked for 20 minutes on the route to Casa Presei Libere on Virtutii Avenue, Ciurel Bridge, because of a fallen cable.
The Romanian Meteorology Administration had issued a now-casting alert for Bucharest and a code orange warning for rains, storms and hail in several localities in Vaslui, Bacău, Vrancea and Galaţi counties.
