Tram Hits Bus in Bucharest; Several People Taken to Hospital

Several people were hospitalized Monday morning after a tram hit an STB (Bucharest Transport Company) bus stopped at a stop on Olteniței Road in Sector 4, the Bucharest Road Brigade announced.

STB announced that, on Monday morning, at around 07:20, on Olteniței Road, at Huși station, heading towards Șura Mare, a road accident occurred involving a tram of line 10 and a bus of line 610, stopped at the stop.

Following the collision of the two vehicles, the passengers were medically assessed on the spot by specialized personnel from the ISU, with the slightly injured people being transported to the hospital for medical care.

“On December 2, at around 07:20, the Road Brigade was notified by SNUAU 112 regarding a traffic accident that occurred on the road. Olteniţei, sector 4. According to preliminary information, the driver of a tram, a 53-year-old man, hit the back of a bus from the Bucharest Transport Company that was stopped at the STB Huşi station for passengers to board/disembark”, the Capital Traffic Police Brigade also informed.

Both vehicle drivers were tested with a breathalyzer, the result indicated being 0.

Due to the accident, the circulation of trams on lines 1 and 10 was interrupted, STB announced. To take over the flow of passengers, the public transport service set up shuttle line 601, which circulated between Baba Novac and Șura Mare, on Șoseaua Mihai Bravu, Piața Sudului and Șoseaua Olteniței.
Tram circulation resumed at 09.10. The Road Brigade conducted investigations on the spot to establish the circumstances of the accident. At the same time, the STB ordered the establishment of a technical commission that will conduct an internal investigation into the causes of this road event.
