The Confederation of Authorized Operators and Carriers in Romania (C.O.T.A.R.) will resume the street protests on Thursday, March 21, if the Government does not issue the emergency ordinance promised three weeks ago, the confederation informs on Tuesday.
The protest will be attended by authorized carriers, COTAR members, amounting to over 5,000 vehicles.
“The vehicles will group in front of the Government and will stretch up to the Casa Presei (Press House). We apologize for the discomfort both in Bucharest and on the national roads, where car lines from all regions will come. If this problem is not solved, the passenger carriers will organize large rallies every week in the next period, when we will block Bucharest with coaches, minibuses and taxis from all over the country,” said COTAR president Vasile Ştefănescu.
COTAR urges the Government to resolve this situation as a matter of urgency and to exclude the false carriers on the roads of Romania, arguing the false doctors, false priests or false lawyers are excluded, since those who practice piracy in transport without license and without authorization are nothing but false passenger carriers.
The carriers protested in Victoriei Square in Bucharest in December and late February against the applications like Uber. Similar protests took place in Arad, Timisoara, Iasi, Bacau, Brasov, Zalau, Slatina and Targu Mures.
