Two out of three households in Romania have a computer

Two out of three households in Romania have a computer and over 68% have an internet connection – a survey released on Thursday by the National Statistics Institute (INS) reveals.

About 64% of the internet-connected dwellings are in the urban area, and specialists say that the difference against the rural areas is the consequence of the reduced possibilities offered by the service providers countrywide, but also of the low incomes of the population in these areas.

At national level, most internet connections are in the Bucharest-Ilfov region – over 4 households in 5 – followed by the West and Northwest, and the fewest are in Southern Muntenia and the North-East regions.
