Two rallies in front of Parliament on Wednesday, against PSD and for President Iohannis. Protests in Cluj on Tuesday

Two rallies have been announced for Wednesday, both are to take place in front of the Parliament, as of 12.00h and 14.00h respectively, realitatea.net reports.

The first rally is called ‘Ultimatum for PSD! The people have the last word’ and the second rally aims to support President Klaus Iohannis.

The organisers warn PSD that if it starts the suspension procedure against Klaus Iohannis they would have where to hide from the Romanian people.

“We’ve heard you saying you’ll go all the way. This time the people say #panalacapat (#all the way) we have the last word. On June 20 we come to the Parliament.”

“PSD could initiate the procedure to suspend President Klaus Iohannis on Wednesday, June 20, when a joint plenary sitting of the Chamber of Deputies and Senate has been summoned,” the organisers said for G4Media.ro a few days ago. Sources told this website that the agenda could be supplemented with the request for suspension.

The joint plenary parliamentary sitting on Wednesday takes place upon the request of Prime Minister Viorica Dancila, as she would address the Parliament in regard to the preparations on the EU Council rotating presidency for Romania, as of January 2019.

Protests in Cluj

About 10,000 people protested in Cluj Tuesday evening against the amendments to the Criminal Procedure Code made by the Chamber of Deputies Monday evening.

The citizens answered the online call from ‘The anticorruption umbrella’ and took to the streets to protest against the amendments.

The rally started at 19.00h at Unirii Square and marched to the city centre, guarded by Police and Gendarmerie.
