Two Satu-Mare daring men go on grandfather’s escape route from war camp in Siberia

A trip to Siberia is the attempt made by two daring men from Satu Mare and they have reached the destination. Driving a Dacia car, Attila and Norbert, father and son, have travelled nearly two weeks to cover 13,000 kilometers.

They have thus travelled on the route the grandfather has covered, who escaped from a Siberian camp and made it back to Romania on foot in two and a half years.

The joy was enormous for Attila and Norbert Bertici when they arrived in the Siberian town on the Pacific Ocean. Their grandfather escaped from the Vladivostok war camp and came to Romania during World War II, digi24.ro informs.

The two men had good roads as well as poor ones, faced strong winds and freezing temperatures of -20 degrees Celsius.

Now they are on the way home. “We will travel through wild Siberia, then Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Kirgizstan, Tajikistan, Pamir Mountains,” Attila Bertici said.

The two Romanians expect to arrive home before the winter holidays, after travelling about 30,000 km. The trip will cost approx. EUR 12,000.
