Wiener Privatklinik Marks 10 Years in Romania

Wiener Privatklinik, one of Austria’s largest private hospitals, is celebrating a double anniversary: 10 years of dedicated presence in Romania and 30 years of medical excellence as an internationally recognized institution — offering top-tier medical care, cutting-edge technology, and world-renowned specialists.

To mark these milestones, WPK hosted a cocktail event at the elegant Maison Dadoo venue in Bucharest, gathering over 100 guests from the fields of medicine, business, politics, and society in a celebratory atmosphere.

A decade of partnership with Romanian patients

Since opening its first local office in Bucharest 10 years ago, followed by a second in Timișoara, Romania has become the largest international market for Wiener Privatklinik. Today, more than 1,000 Romanian patients are treated at WPK each year, representing 26% of all international admissions.

“For a decade, we have been honored to support Romanian patients with access to precise diagnostics, advanced treatments, and world-class expertise. Romanian patients are central to our international success, and we remain committed to strengthening this special relationship”, said Dr. Walter Ebm, co-founder and board member of Wiener Privatklinik.

WPK has built a strong partnership with Romanian patients, offering seamless support through a dedicated Romanian-speaking team, including case managers, nurses, and Patient Companion Services. The hospital also provides the option for family members to stay in the patient’s room, fostering comfort and emotional support throughout their medical journey in Vienna.

Three decades of medical excellence and innovation

In addition to its Romanian anniversary, WPK also celebrated 30 years since its 1995 acquisition by a visionary group of physicians—a turning point that marked its transformation into an internationally acclaimed center of medical excellence, covering over 30 medical specialties in 10 competence centers.

In 2025, Wiener Privatklinik was named one of the World’s Best Hospitals by Newsweek and Statista for the fifth consecutive year—proof of the highest medical standards upheld at WPK. Its outstanding reputation is reinforced by the quality of its physicians—28 of them are listed among the world’s most cited medical experts by Stanford University.

To support future growth, WPK is investing €55 million in expanding its medical campus in Vienna, reaffirming its commitment to innovation, progress, and patient care.

“This expansion marks a key step for the future of Wiener Privatklinik. It will allow us to establish ourselves as a leading European center for diagnostics, provide even more treatment options for our patients, and strengthen our international position”, said CEO Thomas Ebm.

The cocktail event was honored by the presence of esteemed medical collaborators from WPK, including: Prof. Dr. Christoph C. “In both elite sports and medicine, performance is driven by precision, discipline, and teamwork. At Wiener Privatklinik, I’ve seen the same pursuit of excellence that is demanded in high-performance sport — and that gives patients hope, strength, and results”, said Octavian Bellu, former coach of Romania’s national women’s gymnastics team.
