World premiere phone app to promote tourism in Transylvania

The association ‘Clujul Văzut Altfel’ (Cluj seen otherwise) has launched, in partnership with the Romanian Commercial Bank (BCR), a phone app called Top City Card, considered the world’s first tourist guide available on smartphone associated with a city card.

“Currently there are applications that meet such functions separately, but Top City Card is a unique app through the connection made between the three concepts: recommendations – benefits (…) – Travel Guide,” reads a press release.

Users are able to select any of the cities of Cluj-Napoca, Sibiu, Brasov or Timisoara and find out which are the partners in the project and the tourism sites. The users can also get information on the offers available for owners of BCR City Card or Top City Card, news.ro reports.

Currently, there are over 330 partners in the cities of Cluj-Napoca, Timisoara, Brasov and Sibiu, and the partnership will expand to other cities with prestigious universities such as Bucharest, Constanta, Iasi, Oradea, Sighisoara, Targu Mures and Craiova.

BCR City Card cardholders can download the free application available in Apple Store and in Google Play, and the application’s activation is done using the card number.
