Yellow Code for snowfalls and winds for the entire country

The National Administration for Meteorology (ANM) has issued on Wednesday a Yellow Code warning for snowfalls as of December 1, 17.00h until December 2, 8.00h and a Yellow Code for wind gusts during December 2, 8.00h to December 3, at 2.00h.

Heavy snow is expected in the mountainous areas, in northern and central Romania. Precipitations will amount to 20-25 litres per square metre with an important layer of snow.

Temporary wind gusts will reach 50-60 km/hour and in the mountains 65-75 km/h.

As of December 2 the wind will intensify in the regions of Crisana, Banat, Oltenia and Muntenia (north-western, western, south-western and southern Romania) and on small areas blizzards and heavy snow is expected along with glazed frost.

On Friday, December 2 and on the night of Friday to Saturday, mainly in Dobrogea and southern Moldavia (eastern and north-eastern Romania) the winds will reach 55-65 km/h and on isolated areas 70-75 km/h. Glazed frost is likely.

According to ANM, in northern and central Romania, mainly in the mountainous regions, snowfalls will be heavy and the winds will turn to blizzards, reaching 90-100 km/h, with low visibility of less than 50 metres in Southern Carpathians.
