25,000 visitors at Art Safari 2016

25,000 people visisted Art Safari this year, bringing the Western cultural atmosphere in Bucharest, the capital of contrasts between East and West. This year edition has also been beyond Romanian borders, luring international renowned institutions, personalities and collectors such as Tate Modern, Beelden aan Zee Museum, the Culture Committee of the Bavarian Parliament, the European curatorium of the Bucharest’s bid for the European Culture Capital 2021, but also art experts from Strasbourg, Stockholm, Warsaw, Vienna, Haifa, Paris, Johannesburg, The Hague and many others.

The 2016 edition highlights

  • A total of 24,536 visitors during May 5th-15th
  • Almost 3,000 visitors at the Preview Art Safari on May 5th (the most popular ever organized art varnishing).
  • The most well represented age segment was 25-34 years old- 38% (32% aged 35-44 and 18% aged 25-34); 68% were women residing in Bucharest.
  • Dacia-Romania Palace was introduced in Bucharest’s cultural circuit.
  • The largest avant-garde exhibition organized in Romania (350 works) dedicated to the DADA Centenary with international expert Raya Zommer-Tal as curator. Works from 16 museums and 21 private collectors in Romania and abroad went on display.
  • 60 modern and contemporary art galleries, while 34 galleries registered sales from 15 to 100 percent.
  • Art Safari Dialogue, the daily programme of conferences, theatre plays, concerts, launchings attended by around 500 people.
  • Art Safari Kids with eight types of daily activities (modelling, face painting, collage) attended by 700 children.
