31 movies to be screened at TIFF

31 movies ranging from comedies, thrillers, dramas, vintage films but also an independent horror are due to be screened at Transylvania International Film Festival (TIFF) in Cluj-Napoca, inside the Romanian Film Days section, with tens of foreign film critics and distributors.

The organizers said that eight feature films and 18 shorts would join the race, while other five movies would be presented outside the competition, during June 4-6.

Three Romanian feature films will be released for the first time at TIFF. “Bucharest NonStop”, Dan Chisu’s sixth movie, is a funny portrait of Bucharest’s motley nightlife. The second movie is “The world is mine” by Gheorghe Ifrim that tells the story of a rebel teen-age girl involved in a dangerous love affair. The third film is “Bondoc (a name meaning also dumpy in English)”, an observational documentary which tells the story of Dan Bondoc. A 78-year-old golden ager who is clenching on his lifetime passion: the chess.

The jury of the Romanian Film Days consists of Roberto Cueto, member of the selection committee at San Sebastian Film Festival, Mimi Plauche, program director at Chicago IFF and Miroslav Mogorovic, producer and former executive director os Belgrade International Film Festival.

TIFF is scheduled during May 29-June 7.
