Alain Delon, for the first time in Romania, to be awarded at TIFF 2017

The rebel of the French cinema, a world film icon and dubbed as one of the most handsome men of all times, Alain Delon is coming to Romania for the first time, as special guest of the 16th edition of the Transylvania International Film Festival (TIFF) due on June 2-11.

TIFF will award Delon the Prize for the entire career for his exceptional artistic contribution. In his honour, a special screening of the film “Pour la peau d’un flic” (1981) directed by Alain Delon will take place in Unirii Square in Cluj on June 9. Tickets can be purchased at and on the TIFF 2017 app.

Alain Delon is a loved actor, admired by many generations and I think his presence at TIFF 2017 will be a top moment that will remain in our hearts,” said Tudor Giurgiu, the president of the festival.

Born on November 8, 1935, Alain Delon became one of Europe’s most prominent actors and screen sex symbols in the 1960s. He achieved critical acclaim for roles in films such as Rocco and His Brothers (1960), Purple Noon (1960), L’Eclisse (1962), The Leopard (1963), The Black Tulip (1964), Lost Command (1966), Le Samourai (1967), The Sicilian Clan (1969), etc. Over the course of his career Delon worked with many well known directors, including Luchino Visconti, Jean-Luc Godard, Jean-Pierre Melville, Michelangelo Antonioni and Louis Malle.
