Bucharest, the capital of worldwide jazz.17 bands from 12 countries at EUROPAfest – Bucharest International Jazz Competition

12 years after its debut, EUROPAfest – Bucharest International Jazz Competition, ranked by BBC as one of the first 3 jazz contests of Europe, has won its place amongst the worldwide resonant jazz events, and it has just announced an ample 2018 edition, with 17 jazz bands in the Semifinal, coming in a variaty of performance formulas – sextet, quintet, quartet, trio and duo.

Artists from 12 countries – Azerbaijan, Belgium, Cuba, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Jordan, Latvia, Luxembourg, Spain and USA, will present the new trends offering the public a jazz feast. The selection of the bands was made by specialists, based on the artistic value, and on the fulfilment of the audience requirements. During 12 – 19 may, under the motto “100% jazz” the event invites music lovers to memorable evenings of quality jazz, original rhythms, daring ideas and surprising combinations. A week of concerts, workshops and jam sessions animated by artists from 4 continents, with different cultural backgrounds, competing on stage for the Grand Prize. With prestigious international events in their portfolios, the artists will transform Bucharest into the stage of worlwide jazz.

Bucharest International Jazz Competition is a cultural project co-funded by the National Cultural Fund Administration.

Under the motto It’s all about live quality music!, EUROPAfest, the only European festival reuniting 4 musical genres – jazz | blues | pop | classic presents during 10 – 19 May over 300 artists from 45 countries. Besides Bucharest International Jazz Competition, the agenda also includes: Opening Gala Concert – Bucharest & Sibiu, concerts of jazz, blues, pop and classical music, Jeunesses International Music Competition Dinu Lipatti, master-classes and workshops, Caffe Festival, Festival’s corner and EUROPAfest Gala.
