Tens of cultural events will seize Bucharest in mid-September to celebrate the city’s 557th anniversary. The Bucharest City Hall informed that several concerts, exhibitions, workshops, theatre performances, parades, carriage rides and theatre for children will take place during September 16-18 to mark 557 years since Bucharest’s first documentary certification.
“I would like Bucharest citizens to enjoy the cultural activities in the upcoming period and I assure them that I am and I will be a supporter of the cultural projects that make Bucharest a true European Capital,” said Gabriela Firea, the Bucharest mayor.
ArCuB, the city hall’s cultural center will organize a pop-rock concert in Constitutiei Square on September 17 at 5 p.m. Andra, Ştefan Bănică Jr, Zdob şi Zdub, Holograf, Vunk, Bere Gratis, Sore, Loredana, Ruby, Connect-R, Gabriel Cotabiţă, Marcel Pavel, Ovidiu Komornyic, Proconsul, Phoenix or Lidia Buble will sing along.
The event will also comprise street theatre shows performed by troupes from Spain, Italy, France, while clowns, huge puppets, butterflies and light dancers will walk through the crowd.
At the same time, the city hall will organize the “Bucharest stories” event in Herastrau Park through Creart during September 16-18. The event will enclose artistic shows, a pageant, battles of flowers, carriage rides, rope dancing, and a hand made fair. Actors with the Mask Theatre will perform parades, living statues shows in Herastrau Park on Michael Jackson alley.
In Cismigiu Park, the city hall will turn the Pavillion at the heart of the garden in a circus, while children will learn to juggle in an event entitled “The Circus School”, a project by PROEDUS.
The Bucharest District 3 city hall will organize the third edition of the “Arts Boulevard” during September 16-18. This year the event will be dedicated to Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, to mark 260 years since the birth of the great composer. The event will take place simultaneously on eight mini-stages located on Unirii Boulevard, with the largest stage in the Regions Square.
