The Last Week of Artown Festival: Urban Transformations through Murals and Urban Interventions
From October 4-20, 2024, the city of Ploiești has become a stage for artistic interventions that transcend the usual forms of reality: we can already see how Artown Festival has transformed the city into an urban art gallery in just a few days. Over 15 impressive murals and more than 60 street art interventions will bloom on the buildings and walls of the city, taking visitors on a tour of creativity and artistic expression.
National and International Artists Transform Ploiești
This edition of Artown Festival brings together a diverse selection of renowned national and international artists to add a vibrant touch to the city’s streets. Among them are Pablo Luciano Panza (Argentina), Theodoro de Souza (Brazil), Micaela Guedes and Carina Prazeres aka Time For The Oniric (Duo) (Portugal), Anali Chanquia and Vanesa Galdeano aka MEDIANERAS (Argentina), Gabriel Pitcher (UK), El Rughi (Italy), Dzmitryi Kashtalyan (Poland), Katie Green (Canada), Saddo, Mircea Popescu, and Alex Baciu. These artists are still working on the murals that will redefine the urban landscape and bring fresh energy to every corner of the city included in the festival.
NextGen Murals – A Platform for Emerging Muralists
This year, Artown Festival has launched a special initiative, NextGen Murals, a category dedicated to young muralists at the beginning of their careers. Artists such as Poppy, gabipedeal, Elean, Pllanllna, Laetidraw, and SCHIN will have the opportunity to showcase their vision and talent, contributing to the city’s transformation into a lively space.
Street Art Interventions: The Energy of Urban Art
In addition to the murals, this year’s edition includes a wide range of street art interventions taking place in public spaces and unconventional areas. Among the artists bringing these ephemeral works to life are Beatrice Arzoiu, Andrei Dinică, Daliana Elena Pavel, Delia Cîrstea, Elena Bobaru, Frukty, Maria Ionescu, Maz, Mimi Plesoianu, Raluca Ilaria Demetrescu, Atomei Andrei, Ana Cristina Toma, and Vlad Pasca. These creators reimagine everyday spaces, turning them into platforms for artistic expression and urban dialogue.
The Final Days of the Festival:
Artown Festival invites you to explore the transformed city. In these last days of the festival, the streets will become an open-air stage where visual stories come to life through the meeting of creativity and the needs of urban space. Being part of this event means more than admiring art—it means feeling the pulse of a city in constant motion and transformation. It’s a chance to witness the city’s metamorphosis. Artown Festival is a celebration of urban life, an invitation to art activism for a more colorful, vibrant, and innovative city.
Artown Festival has transformed the 120-year-old UZUC factory into the Urban Zone of Unconventional Culture, a place bustling with events. Three spaces have come alive thanks to the third edition of the festival: The Fire Tower is hosting the opening of a photography exhibition by artist Cristian Sisea today, October 15, 2024, at 8:00 PM, focusing on the idea of everyday life as a surreal urban spectacle. Artown Festival also inaugurated the Architecture Pavilion in the impressive hall, designed by architect Alessandro Rocchi, which hosted a classical music recital on October 13. Hall Zero is the main venue for festival events and will continue to host events on weekends even after the festival concludes.
See you on the streets of the city from October 4-20, 2024, to celebrate the city’s transformation together. The program and event locations are announced on the website, Facebook page, and the festival’s event page.
