Ethan Hawke: “I don’t understand why I can’t get a part in Romania”

While recently in Romania to attend the American Independent Film Festival, US actor Ethan Hawke confessed he would like to star in a local movie. Boasting four Oscar nominations, two for acting and two for script, known for his performance in „Training Day”, „Before” or „Boyhood”, Hawke told Digi 24 that he is available to star here and that he doesn’t understand why he cannot get a part in Romania.

Hawke says he likes Cristian Mungiu’s films for instance, but praises Romanian cinema as a whole.

I know Cristian Mungiu, I like his films a lot. There is so much great works coming from here right now. Something interesting is happening here in cinema,” he said.

I keep thinking that if my mother lives and works here that someone is going offer me a part here, but nobody does. I am available. Every time I come to Romania I hear about another actor shooting here. It’s Joaquin Phoenix who is working here right now. The last time I was here there was Donald Sutherland. Matt Damon was here, Jude Law was here. I don’t understand why I can’t get a part here,” Hawke stated.
