A record of 146 films are entering the program of NexT International Festival this year, with 36 of them competing for prizes in the national and international races.
The ninth edition of NexT festival is due on April 15-19 in several locations in Bucharest, at Studio Cinema, Elvira Popescu Cinema, CinemaPRO, Romanian Cultural Institute, at Club Control, J’ai Bistrot, ArCub, Carturesti bookshop and Ciclop Depot.
24 movies from 17 countries (among whom Spain, France, Portugal, Belgium, Israel, Poland, Argentina and Canada) are competing for the NexT international section, which is focusing on original, daring messages and on the diversity of genres and approaches.
Among the movies, there are “She Was Like, He Was Like”, romantic comedy, a horror with dolls and exorcism- “Ancha es Castilla”, “Et que ça saute!” telling the story of three women outraged by the financial crisis scandal, “Quiet Zone”, a story about those suffering of electromagnetic hyper sensibility and “97 %”, an application bring the dreams’ girl. Two Romanian movies are also entering the race: “12 days” by Tudor Giurgiu and “Honey moon” by Sebastian Mihailescu.
However, for the second year in a row, Romanian films will have their own section at NexT. This year, 12 shorts are competing for “the best Romania movie” award, granted by the Romanian Cultural Institute, and for the audience’s award.
The festival jury will rejoin this year, as well, important film figures: Ewa Puszczynska from Poland, the producer of “Ida” feature film, recently Oscar awarded, Edvinas Puksta from Estonia, picker of International Film Festival in Vilnius, film reviewer and researcher Micha? Oleszczyk from Poland, director Ana Lungu, French film reviewer François Bonenfant, director Eduardo Williams (Argentina), winner of the NexT trophy for soundtrack in 2014.
