Bucharest main boulevard closed for traffic due to shootings at “What Happened to Monday”. Noomi Rapace, Glenn Close already in Romania

About 300 actors, including Swedish actress Noomi Rapace, “closed down” Nicolae Balcescu Boulevard downtown Bucharest on Sunday morning, shooting for “What Happened to Monday” SF thriller, also starring Glenn Close and Willem Dafoe.

The shootings made by a team of Castel Film, the largest full-service private studio and film Production Company in Romania, took place during 6 and 10 a.m., with the traffic being restricted on the boulevard, between C.A Rosetti and Dem I. Dobrescu streets.

Among the 300 actors shooting there was also the leading start of the movie, Noomi Rapace, internationally renowned for her Lisbeth Salander character in “Millenium” trilogy.

Now, in the new SF thriller, she is playing the parts of seven identical sisters who are living in a country where families are allowed to have only one child, so the girls have to assume the same identity in public. Baptized by their father after the days of the week, things are going well until one day when Monday is not coming back home anymore.

For this movie, Noomi Rapace came in Romania since July, initially shooting next to US actor Willem Dafoe, who is not in Romania anymore. Now, Noomi is shooting with Glenn Close, who arrived in Romania about one week ago.

“Glenn Close will stay in Romania for one more week or so, while Willem Dafoe has been shooting at the beginning,” said Bogdan Moncea, the marketing director of Castel Film. According to him, the famous actors did not have special requests and had a good time in Romania.

There is also a Romanian actor, Vlad Radescu, starring in the movie.

The shootings will continue in Bucharest, in the Capital City’s old center and at the National Library and will end on November 10. The film directed by Tommy Wirkola is to be released at the end of 2016.
