CARBON hits theaters in Romania as of July 7

Transilvania Film announces from July 5 the preview of the most successful Moldovan film, CARBON, directed by Ion Borș, in cinemas throughout the country. After the success achieved at the 2023 edition of the Transylvania International Film Festival (TIFF), the comedy with a bitter taste aims to conquer the Romanian audience with its captivating story and memorable characters.

Tickets can already be purchased on the websites of the cinemas or at the ticket offices.

The action of the film CARBON takes place in the Republic of Moldova in 1992, during the war on the Dniester, and follows the story of a young tractor driver who, out of his naive desire to build a future with his girlfriend, embarks on a journey full of adventures in the pursuit of dreams. But a sinister discovery turns the journey into an adventure full of absurd situations, where the hero faces indifference, greed and stupidity from those around him.

The film team will be present in Bucharest (July 5, Elvira Popescu) and Timișoara (July 6, Cinema Victoria) for special screenings and Q&A sessions.

CARBON marks the directorial debut of Ion Borș and enjoys international recognition. The film became the most successful Moldovan film of recent times, obtaining a record at the box office in Moldova and being the first Moldovan film screened in cinemas in Romania. Also, CARBON was selected as the official proposal of the Republic of Moldova for the Oscar Awards, and its success took it to more than 25 cities around the world.
