“Subteran”, Netflix first original Romanian series, appears next month

Netflix streaming platform announced on Wednesday that it will launch “Subteran”, its first original Romanian series, in January next year, one that will star Florin Piersic Jr. and Ana Ularu.

The news comes after Netflix released a “teaser” trailer for Subteran in November and revealed that it is coming “soon”.

The American streaming platform has now revealed a new trailer and what that “coming soon” means: January 8th of next year.
“Cami is a woman who uses her intelligence to succeed in a man’s world. When her life is turned upside down by a criminal group, she ends up playing the role of lover and hacker for an undercover agent who finds herself in a desperate situation. But Roman is Cami’s only chance to get revenge and save her son,” states the official description published by Netflix for its first original Romanian series.
Ana Ularu as Cami, an IT specialist and single mother who finds herself caught in a dark web of crime. Florin Piersic Jr. as Tănase, a ruthless underworld figure who no one can touch and whose fortune was built on a drug empire. Irina Artenii in a dual role, that of the rebel Tili & the conformist Crisi, extremely different twins and the daughters of Tănase, a terrifying character from the Bucharest underground. Cosmin Teodor Pană as Dracu, a loyal and cunning helper, Tănase’s right-hand man; Cezar Grumăzescu as Roman, an undercover agent, a lone wolf hunted by his past.
Although a number of Romanian films and series are available on Netflix, none of the productions so far have been original ones commissioned by the American streaming company, but rather titles for which it has purchased the broadcasting rights. The series is produced by Mobra Films and May One, with Ioanina Pavel as Creative Producer and Johnathan Young & Tudor Reu as Executive Producers.
