Films and serials television TNT to be launched in Romania on October 6

Films and serials television TNT, the leading brand for entertainment of the American company Turner Broadcasting System, will be launched in Romania on October 6, replacing TCM and will be available in the grids of the majority of cable operators countrywide, including RCS & RDS, UPC, Telekom.
The announcement was made on Monday by the representatives of Turner Broadcasting System, in a press conference in Bucharest, attended by Cristina Valasutean, distribution manager for Romania, Hungary and the Balkan countries, and Matthias Heinze, Vice-president for commercial operations in Germany Austria, Switzerland, Benelux, Central and Eastern Europe and Russia.
Matthias Heinze said that the launch of TNT is also a message from Turner Broadcasting System concerning its intention to continue to invest in Romania’s audiovisual market. “We want to address a wider and younger audience than we did before with TCM,” said Matthias Heinze, adding that Romania is for Turner one of the top three markets in Eastern Europe, in terms of importance.
Matthias Heinze said that he does not exclude that at some point in the future, TNT might produce local programs in Romania, but currently there are no plans in this regard.
TNT television will operate as pay TV (pay per user) and will broadcast advertisements.
In addition to TNT, Turner will continue to operate on Romania’s audiovisual market the international news channel CNN and as well as Cartoon Network and Boomerang.
TNT will firstly broadcast in Romania in the variant of Standard Definition (SD), but the version High Definition (HD) is available. “The HD broadcast will take place very soon, we hope,” said Cristina Valasutean.
