First concert of the year – Răzvan Florescu Quartet

The Union of Interpretative Creation of Musicians of Romania (UCIMR) together with the “George Enescu” Philharmonic invites the audience to the first jazz concert of 2025 at the Romanian Athenaeum. Răzvan Florescu Quartet will perform on Monday, January 27, at 7:00 PM. Răzvan Florescu Quartet is composed of Răzvan Florescu (vibraphone), Andrei Petrache (piano), Mike Alex (double bass) and Philip Goron (drums).

The program will include compositions by Răzvan Florescu from the quartet’s upcoming album, Sketches. Tickets can be purchased on the oveit.com platform. RĂZVAN FLORESCU RĂZVAN Florescu (vibraphone) graduated from the National University of Music Bucharest in the Jazz department, under the guidance of prof. univ. dr. Mircea Tiberian in 2022 and his bachelor’s studies, at the percussion section, class of lect. univ. dr. Sorin Rotaru, in 2020, within the same university. He is currently a tenured professor of percussion at the Secondary School of Arts no. 5 in Bucharest and the George Enescu National College of Music.

During 2018-2019 he benefited from an ERASMUS+ scholarship, having the opportunity to study at the Janacek Academy of Music in Brno, Czech Republic. He has an extensive concert activity as a soloist, as well as part of chamber music ensembles (Luiza Zan Quintet, RVQ, PERCUSSIONescu, TUMBE, etc.), both in Romania and in Europe (France, Germany, Russia, Czech Republic), he has also been a collaborator with some of the most important orchestras in the country (National Radio Orchestra, “George Enescu” Philharmonic, Romanian Youth Orchestra, Sibiu Philharmonic, etc.).

Throughout his career, he has won numerous awards: The Best Band Award at the “Johnny Răducanu” International Jazz Festival 2023 (JazzQuarters), the Excellence Scholarship offered by UNMB in 2021 and 2019, the Best Composition Award at the Sibiu Jazz Competition 2021 (RVQ), First Prize in two categories at the Iași Jazz Competition 2020 for the best composition and for the best performance (RVQ), First Prize at the Hungarian Music Festival in 2019 (PERCUSSIONescu), Second Prize in the solo section, in the chamber music section and the special prize for the best Romanian piece at the “Dan Cumpătă” Remember Enescu 2017 competition (PERCUSSIONescu), First Prize at the 2016 Music Olympics.
