French author, producer, and composer Théo Boulenger in Romania

SÂMBĂTA SONORĂ
A Listening Session with Théo Boulenger (FR)
April 25 / 7:00 PM
Théo Boulenger — French author, producer, and composer, known for his documentary sound creations — was the featured guest for the new SÂMBĂTA SONORĂ listening session, organized on Friday, April 25, at 7:00 PM, by SEMI SILENT with the support of the French Institute in Romania.
Théo Boulenger’s podcasts — sonic documentaries that recount people’s lives and stories in an intimate and unconventional manner:
  • “Chroniques du Grand Domaine,”  – first episode
In this documentary series, comic book artist Lili Sohn and sound producer Théo Boulenger tell the story of Marseille through the lens of a building — Grand Domaine — and its inhabitants. From the Armenian diaspora fleeing genocide to foreign rights activists and the local movida artists of the 1980s, Grand Domaine holds the cultural wealth of Marseille, past and present. Lili Sohn, the curious narrator and resident of the building, and Théo Boulenger, the podcast’s creator, set out to meet the neighbors who embody fragments of the city’s history.
A 13 PRODS production.
  • “Jardins divers”, episode “An Extraordinary Excursion”
“I inherited some audio tapes over ten years ago. On them, you can hear very old men and women, the sounds of cutlery, trolleys, doors… I found them in my mother’s cupboard when I was twenty. She had recorded everything while working at a nursing home in the 1990s.” – Théo Boulenger
Specialized in documentary podcasts, Théo Boulenger captures voices and sounds, weaving them into immersive narratives. Throughout his career, he has won numerous awards for documentary work, sound creation, and musical composition. He collaborates with various institutions and authors, exploring the complexity of human speech through his Jardins divers series.
Free entry.
Listening session in French with Romanian and/or English subtitles.
Location: SAC, General Berthelot 5, Bucharest
Following this evening of audio creations, Théo Boulenger will also lead a free two-day workshop for podcast producers and sound creators, organized in Bucharest by SEMI SILENT, with the support of the French Institute in Romania
