French writer David Foenkinos to launch “Charlotte” in Romania

French writer David Foenkinos will meet Romanian readers at Carturesti Verona bookshop in Bucharest on October 29, at 7 p.m., when he will launch “Charlotte”, his novel awarded the Renadout prize. The novel will be published by Nemira publishing house, in the “Babel” collection.

The portrait of an exceptional woman and of a tragic destiny, “Charlotte” is the story of a pursuit, a writer who is looking for Charlotte Salomon, the artist who ended up in Auschwitz. She spends her tragic childhood in Berlin, while later on, the Nazis exclude her from the German society gradually. She finds shelter in France where she will transpose her fears, dreams and desires in fascinating drawings that she is going to entrust to her personal physician.
