Mihai Mincan) are the films which officially enters the race for the Gopo trophy in the Best Feature Film category.
The performances of Romanian filmmakers will be rewarded during the 18th edition of the Gopo Awards Gala, which will take place on April 29 at the National Theatre, I.L. Caragiale” from Bucharest.
32 Romanian feature films released in cinemas or on streaming platforms in 2023 were on the proposed list for nominations in the Best Film category.
The most nominated films this year are Freedom (14 nominations), To the North (13 nominations), Do Not Expect Too Much from the End of the World (11 nominations), Boss (9 nominations), MMXX (6 nominations) and The Dream (6 nominations).
In the Best Director category, Bogdan Mirică is nominated for the film BOSS, Tudor Giurgiu for the film Freedom, Cristi Puiu for the film MMXX, Radu Jude for Do Not Expect Too Much from the End of the World and Mihai Mincan for To the North.
Diana Gheorghian (Dark Ages), Adelaida Perjoiu and Bianca Cuculici for their roles in the feature film MMXX, Ilinca Manolache (Do Not Expect Too Much from the End of the World) and Cătălina Moga (Tiger) are competing for Best Actress in a leading role.
Laurentiu Bănescu (BOSS), Alex Calangiu (Freedom), Niko Becker and Soliman Cruz in the film To the North and Vlad Logigan (The Dream) are racing for the Best actor in a leading role.
A Cautionary Tale (dir. Ilinca Călugăreanu), Why is my name Nora, when my sky is clear, (dir. Carla Maria Teaha,), Between Revolutions (dir. Vlad Petr), Mrs Buică (dir. Eugen Buică), The Chalice. Of Sons and Daughters (dir. Cătălina Tesar, Dana Bunescu) and Eagles from Ţaga (dir. Iulian Manuel Ghervas, Adina Popescu) will compete this year for the title of Best Documentary Film.
