About half of Romanians (48%) will spend the New Year’s Eve at home with their family, relatives or friends, while only 9 percent chose to go out to celebrate the new year, according to an E.ON study conducted in 8 European countries at the end of 2016.
The same percentage of Hungarian citizens will celebrate the New Year’s Eve at home, however around 18% will go out and celebrate.
43% of Czechs and 40% Italians will stay home on New Year’s Eve, while 27% of Germans will spend the holiday at home.
30 percent of Romanians said they would watch TV on this night, unlike in Italy where only 9 pc will watch TV.
14% of Germans and Brits will watch TV on New Year’s Eve.
“Yet, despite the fact that hotels and mansions in resorts are fully booked, the New Year’s Eve is not exactly a vacation time in Europe. Only 6 percent of the Germany’s population has vacation plans or other activities and this figure is higher than in the rest of Europe. Only 4 pc of the Romanian respondents said they would go on vacation, while among Czechs, Hungarians and Italians the percentage is 3 pc. There is a high number of those who have no plans on New Year’s Eve: 30% of the Brits, 23% of Turks, 18% of Germans and 11% of Romanians,” reads the press release.
“Living in Europe” study was conducted by E.ON and Kantar EMNID on 8,000 respondents from Germany, UK, Italy, Czech Republic, Romania, Sweden, Turkey and Hungary.
