Social media network Dronestagr.am has announced the winners of the 4th annual International Drone Photography Contest, with a photo from Transylvania taken by a Romanian photographer ranking second on Nature category.
The “Infinite road to Transylvania” photo by Catalin Stan features a twined road to Sighisoara, Transylvania taken by drone.
“Infinite road to Transylvania. Yes, THAT Transylvania. In Romania, of course. This is the road that goes to Sighisoara, Count Dracula’s birth place. The legend says that this is how he sees the country, in his nocturnal flights!”, says the Dronestagram’s description.
A picture featuring a lavender field in Provence, France ranked first on the Nature category and a photo with the sea ice formation in East Greenland ranked third.
Thousands of entries were submitted from everywhere in the world by talented professional photographers and amateur drone photo enthusiasts. The winners of the categories – nature, people, urban and creativity – have been chosen and feature work from amateur and professional drone enthusiasts across the world.
The competition was judged on creativity and photographic quality by a panel of experts including National Geographic Deputy Director Patrick Witty and Photo editor Jeff Heimsath as well as Emanuela Ascoli, Photo editor of National Geographic France and Dronestagram.
