ARCUB will host on Thursday, October 23, starting 20:00, a Flamenco show performed by two of the most renowned names on the current Flamenco stage: guitarist Pedro Sierra and singer Juana to Tobal (cantaora).
Pedro Sierra (Hospitalet, Barcelona), a well-known Flamenco guitarist, lives in Seville since 1990 and is considered one of the great artists of Flamenco, given the versatility he shows when playing the guitar, but also as vocal and dance accompaniment. The artist skillfully combines three styles of playing, therefore he was requested by all the great personalities of Flamenco, including Farruco, José Mercé, Manuela Carrasco, Mayte Martin, Mario Maya, La Tobala, Javier Barón, El Potito, Israel Galván, Cristina Hoyos, La Susi, Carmen Linares, etc.
He composed music for Flamenco works such as “Romancero Gitano” by Cristina Hoyos, “Por Aquí te quiero ver” by Manuel Soler, “Los Zapatos Rojos” by Israel Galván, “La Francesa” by Pastora Galván, “Poema del Cante Jondo for the “Ballet in Andalusia”, “Encuentros” by El Junco, and for the film “Bodas de Gloria” by the master Farruco.
Juana Riba Salazar la Tobala was born in Seville, in Los Tobalos clan. She began playing Flamenco when she was a child and, shortly after, she was given the chance to work with, among others, the artists Manuela Carrasco, Joaquin Cortes, La Chana. As a soloist, she completed ??eight recordings with her producer and husband, guitarist Pedro Sierra: “Dime sí en la vida” (1989), “Jardanay” (1993), “Espejo del Alma” (1995), “Rincones de Sueños Puros” (1997) and “Duquelas” (1999), “Azul” (2004); in 2013, she celebrated 20 years of career with the disc “Entreaguas”.
