Nastassja Kinski, actress, top model and sex symbol of the 70-80s comes for the first time in Romania, as special guest at the Transylvania International Film Festival (TIFF) in Cluj-Napoca due next month. She will receive the Special Prize for the contribution brought to the world cinema.
The actress starred in over 60 movies and collaborated with famous directors such as Wim Wenders, Roman Polanski, Francis Ford Coppola or David Lynch. She will meet the audience in Cluj during the special screening of Paris, Texas movie (Palme d’Or, 1984) on June 3, starting 20:30 at the Students’ cultural center. Kinski will also lecture within a masterclass at Transilvania Talent Lab on June 5, starting 12:00.
Nastassja Kinski enjoyed her worldwide breakthrough with “Stay As You Are” (1978), then came to global prominence with her Golden Globe Award-winning performance as the title character in “Tess” directed by Roman Polanski (1979). Other notable films in which she acted include the erotic horror “Cat People”(1982), two Wim Wenders’ dramas, “Paris, Texas” (1984) and “Faraway, So Close!” (1993), and “An American Rhapsody”(2001).
Daughter of controversial actor Klaus Kinsiki, Nastassja was born in Germany in 1961 but subsequently moved to USA. In a 1999 interview, Kinski denied that her father had sexually molested her as a child, but said he had abused her “in other ways.” However, in 2013, when interviewed about the allegations of sexual abuse made by her half-sister Pola Kinski she confirmed that he tried with her, but did not succeed.
