Over 300 artists from 45 countries at the upcoming EUROPAfest 2015

The only European festival rejoining  4 musical genres – jazz, blues, pop and classic is back in 2015 with exceptional concerts. Under the motto ‘It’s all about live quality music!‘, EUROPAfest presents over 300 artists from 45 countries in Europe during 14 – 23 May, with special guests from USA, Australia, China and Japan.

“Characterized through authenticity, diversity and high class, EUROPAfest is part of the European elite festivals, contributing with every edition at promoting a positive image of Romania in the entire world,” reads the organizers’ press release.

Each year the festival brings something new. In 2015, for the first time in its history, EUROPAfest will start with a double Opening Concert – Bucharest | Sibiu. Thus, on the 14th of May, the public from two representative cultural cities will attend an exceptional concert, starting 19:00. If jazz and blues notes will be heard on the Bucharest stage, with Turn On / Finland and Hot Club de Bucharest / Romania, having Raluca Stoica as leading singer, a symphonic concert with the EUROPAfest prize-winner, Momoka Masuda from Japan will take place on Thalia Hall scene from Sibiu together with the Philharmonic Orchestra of Sibiu.

“Being a musician, I created EUROPAfest with passion and with the belief that I can succeed. During 22 years we have offered to the large audience a festival that distinguishes itself through professionalism, quality music and elegance. EUROPAfest succeeds year by year in bringing a fresh air in the event scene from Romania, keeping in the same time a note of refinement,” the festival’s Director, Luigi Gageos said on Monday at the press conference announcing the details about the upcoming festival.

Since 2005 EUROPAfest takes place under the High Patronage of The Royal House of Romania.

We are glad that Bucharest is becoming, year by year, thanks to EUROPAfest, the capital of the European music of all ages and genres, from classical to jazz, blues and pop. We address our congratulations for all these years full of accomplishments of the Festival,” reads the message their Royal Highnesses, the Crown Princess Margareta and The Prince Radu on the occasion of EUROPAfest 2015 edition.

Focusing on quality and less on what is commercial, jmEvents, the festival organizer encourages the youth towards music by offering free entrance for students, in the limit of the available seats, while waiting for all of you to join in celebrating good music.

The EUROPAfest agenda reunites 10 events

May 14 | Double Opening Concert – Bucharest & Sibiu

The days of good music begin with harmony, glamour, exuberance and electric atmosphere. Moments of delight, of unique and original interpretations, special guests, attractive projections and presentations are to be expected.

May 16 – 23| Bucharest International Jazz Competition

Ranked by BBC as one of the top 3 jazz competitions in Europe, Bucharest International Jazz Competition introduced in 2007 on the EUROPAfest agenda, registered a resounding success since its first edition – 30 bands from 25 countries. Under the slogan “100% jazz and more” the event invites the public to discover unique concepts and the best jazz musicians of the moment, the most renowned of the new generation from all over the world. The concerts are completed by jam sessions and workshops with international specialists. This year 15 jazz bands from as many countries reached the semifinals. The contest promises to the Romanian public quality jazz, evenings marked by originality, vitality, surprises and unusual combinations.

May 16 – 23| Jeunesses International Music Competition Dinu Lipatti – Violin

The strongest competition in the region, both as number of participants, as well as professional level, JIMCDL’s mission is to discover and promote new stars of classical music. Held annually since 1994, alternatively for piano, violin, flute, clarinet and composition, the event features a variety of “music schools”, offering a space for exchanging ideas and the experience of an open competition, objective, in an artistic interactive environment. The event offers visibility and support in a moment when choosing classical music is a challenge. In 2015 the competition records 107 violinists from 40 countries, nearly double the number of any international violin contest in our country, which proves that JIMCDL is number one in Romania. Both those who are already in love with classical music and those who decide to discover it at EUROPAfest, can meet the future international greats.

May 15 – 22 | Caffe Festival Ibis

With an interesting concept, EUROPAfest – Caffe Festival brings spectacular concerts in unconventional spaces. Recognized artists, but also from the new generation will hold concerts of jazz, blues and jam sessions in the middle of the audience. The traditional location of the event is Caffe Ibis L’Estaminet, where the public will benefit from a special package, each entry including a beverage at choice.

May 18 – 22 | workshops

The attraction point for the public is represented by the workshop-event led by the appreciated Margareta Paslaru. Workshops of jazz and violin will also take place.

May 23 | EUROPAfest Gala

A black tie event, a night in which the public has the opportunity to meet the most appreciated presences of festival. The highlight of the festival includes the awarding ceremony, speeches of the special guests, moments of quality music and atmosphere. With this occasion the Royal House awards the Excellence Diploma to a company supporting the culture.
