On May 17–18, the French production company Mesden Valley, in partnership with the French Institute in Romania in Bucharest, presents the premiere of Sauver la Princesse, a performative installation created by Alexandra Sand, Metodă Mesden, and guest artist Andrei Dinescu, as part of RDW Design GO!
Sauver la Princesse is an in situ performative action where a contemporary “princess,” an ambiguous “hero” (played by Andrei Dinescu), and an invisible player unfold within a game governed by fluid rules and shifting roles. Visitors are invited not only to observe but also to interact, becoming part of a playful universe rich in symbolism and perspective reversals.
Under the motto “SAVE THE PRINCESS!”, the project encourages the rediscovery of play as a form of meaning and expression. The experience is immersive, both fascinating and subtly voyeuristic—guests enter the artists’ intimate space, open cupboards, discover objects, and witness a performance that seems to unfold in the protagonists’ unconscious presence.

About the Artists:
Alexandra Sand is a visual artist based between Bucharest and Paris. Working across video, performance, installation, and drawing, her work explores identity, perception, and female corporeality. She was a Villa Medici fellow (2015–2016) and guest artist at the American Academy in Rome (2018). She is a PhD candidate in philosophy at the University of Bucharest and is represented by Galerie Hervé Bize (Nancy, France).
Metodă Mesden, born in the 20th century in a game hall, is the son of a Parisian station janitor. He discovered his calling for “theatre of the depths” during a visit to the Turda salt mine. In recent years, he has staged performances in a cave in the Italian Alps, blending religious ritual with burlesque comedy. His collaboration with Alexandra Sand began during a seminar on crystal hermeneutics.
Andrei Dinescu is a violinist, composer, and performer. A student of masters like Ion Voicu, he has explored diverse styles—from jazz and rock to electronic and traditional music—and has collaborated with artists such as Rodion G.A. and Taraf de Haidouks. He founded bands like Zebre, IMPEX, and Steaua de Mare, and is a key figure in the Proto Manele movement. Through his project Shamanelism, he created the largest digital archive of Romani music and composes for theatre and film.
