The Berlin festival kicks off on Thursday. “Mammalia” has its world premiere on February 18

The surrealist drama “Mammalia”, directed by Sebastian Mihăilescu, selected in the Forum section of the 73rd edition of the Berlin International Film Festival, will have its world premiere later this week, on February 18, at 21:00 local time , at Delphi Filmpalast am Zoo.

The event will take place in the presence of director Sebastian Mihăilescu, actors István Téglás, Mălina Manovici, Denisa Nicolae and producers Diana Păroiu and Ada Solomon.

Andrei Epure (co-screenwriter), Barbu Bălășoiu (director of photography), Cătălin Cristuțiu (editor), Anca Lazăr (scenography), Horia Călugăreanu (assistant producer), Vlad Grăjdan (line producer), Simona Pătrașcu (production manager).

The presence of the Romanian team at the Berlinale is supported by the National Cinematography Center, DACIN SARA, UCIN and the Romanian Cultural Institute.

“Mammalia” will also be screened on Sunday at 10:30 AM at Zoo Palast 5, Thursday February 23 at 4 PM at Cubix 7 and on the last day of the festival, February 26 at 4 PM at Delphi Filmpalast am Zoo.

Forum is a competition section of the Berlinale and includes films that represent a reflection on the cinematic environment and on the socio-artistic discourse, films with a distinctive sense of aesthetics.

“Mammalia” (Romania, Germany, Poland) is a surreal journey through the crisis of masculinity and combines drama with mystery and comedy.

Camil, a 39-year-old man, embarks on a dreamlike journey where the mundane and the fantastic intertwine. With the loss of control over his work, his social status and his love relationship, he embarks on a quest that makes him question his identity and his masculinity. Following in the footsteps of his partner, he ends up in a bizarre community with disturbing rituals, where he eventually experiences a tragicomic reversal of roles.
