The French Institute in Romania – Bucharest Presents: MiniFrancoFest 2025

Saturday, May 17, marks the third edition of MiniFrancoFest, a festival dedicated to children and parents that celebrates the French language and culture through play, creativity, and joyful experiences. The program, organized by the Media Library of the French Institute in Romania in Bucharest, transforms the venue into a space of imagination, discovery, and delight. Throughout the day, participants are invited to take part in a variety of interactive activities and performances designed to spark curiosity, artistic expression, and a love for play in children and pre-teens.

Schedule for May 17, 2025:

  • 10:00 – 10:50 Body expression workshop for parents and children (ages 4–7)

  • 11:00 – 12:30 Screening of Chien pourri, la vie à Paris

  • 12:30 – 13:20 Body expression workshop for children (ages 8–12)

  • 13:30 – 14:30 Break

  • 14:30 – 15:00 Kamishibai storytelling workshop

  • 15:30 – 16:30 Dry ice science experiments with Professor Trăsnit

  • 17:00 – 18:00 Theatre performance Romance by the French company Le Bocal à Baleines

Ongoing Activities:

  • 11:00 – 13:30 Video games and virtual reality

  • 12:00 – 16:00 Face painting

  • 14:30 – 15:30 Video games and virtual reality

The event takes place at the French Institute in Romania – Bucharest and Cinema Elvire Popesco (77 Dacia Boulevard).

Tickets: Each child’s access to the festival is based on a ticket priced at 70 RON, available on Eventbook or directly at the Media Library reception until Friday, May 16, at 12:00 PM. One accompanying adult per child enters free of charge. Additional adults must purchase a ticket. Workshop participation requires prior reservation at the time of ticket purchase. MiniFrancoFest 2025 is part of the cultural season “French Spring TOGETHER”, the highlight of the Centennial Celebration of the French Institute in Romania. Running from March to June 2025, the season marks 100 years of cultural, scientific, and educational cooperation between France and Romania, with a special focus on youth, contemporary creativity, research, and civic engagement.
