The Gabroveni Inn opened the doors to the “Universe of Salvador Dalí”

Starting from Wednesday, December 13, the “Universul lui Salvador Dalí” exhibition, the largest exhibition event in our country dedicated to the famous Spanish artist, can be visited at ARCUB – the Cultural Center of the City of Bucharest. 170 Salvador Dalí works, covering various methods of artistic expression, can be admired, for the first time in Romania, for 5 months, until May 12, 2024, at ARCUB – Hanul Gabroveni.

The “Universul lui Salvador Dalí” exhibition is organized by the Capital City Hall, through ARCUB – the Cultural Center of the Municipality of Bucharest, in partnership with HADRAN Events, and offers, for the first time, the Romanian public the chance to discover the work of one of the most important surrealist artists, materialized in sculptures, graphics, lithographs, engravings, gold and diamond miniatures, furniture design, which completes the portrait of an exceptional creator in all his artistic forms.
Large-scale cultural event, which brings to Bucharest art objects exhibited in major European cities from the most important private collection containing works by Salvador Dalí, belonging to the renowned art collector Beniamino Levi, the exhibition puts the Capital, implicitly ARCUB, at the forefront of Romanians’ favorite destinations , but also of tourists. More than 2,000 people chose to visit the exhibition in the first days after its opening, proof of the Romanian public’s cultural appetite, underlining the importance of such events for the community and the public’s desire to experience the artistic act in a contemporary context, through the cultural projects initiated by ARC.
Diving into Dalí’s universe: from sculptures and lithographs to furniture and jewelry

The exhibition offers a new perspective on the creative universe of Salvador Dalí, presenting a remarkable selection of works that capture the Spanish artist’s versatility and experiments with different mediums, always looking for novel ways to materialize his ideas. Thus, visitors have the opportunity to come into direct contact with the legendary Dalinian symbols: the melted clock, the egg, ants, femininity, snails, butterflies, angels, transposed into sculptures and art objects, such as the Woman of Time, which urges the viewer to meditate on ephemerality the beauties, hallucinogenic Toreador, an original presentation of the Spanish national symbol – the bullfighter, or Tribute to Terpsichore, a juxtaposition between classical and cubism in a tribute to the goddess of dance. At the same time, jewel-sculptures such as The Triumphant Angel and Unicorn, and illustrated books from series such as Moses and Monotheism, Secret Poems, After 50 Years of Surrealism, Ghosts and Objects of the Future reveal Dalí in multiple poses and provide an overview on the creative evolution of the surrealist master.


The artistic destination of the winter holidays

With more than 170 works on display, the “Universe of Salvador Dalí” is certainly the favorite artistic destination for Bucharest residents and tourists during the winter holidays and beyond. A unique opportunity to (re)discover the surrealist imaginary of Salvador Dalí, where dreams and reality intertwine, the exhibition also offers visitors the opportunity to get to know his works through virtual reality. The VR experience lasts about 15 minutes and completes the visitor’s tour. At the same time, visitors can also benefit from an audio guide, in Romanian, which provides, during the visit, exhaustive information about the exhibited works and interesting stories from the tumultuous life of the incomparable Salvador Dalí. Both the VR experience and the audio guide can be purchased through the available ticket packages, but also separately, online and physically, directly at the location, at a cost of 10 lei and 15 lei, respectively.

During the winter vacation, the exhibition is closed on December 25, December 31, and January 1 and 2, 2024. Except for the mentioned days, the exhibition visiting hours are from Monday to Sunday, between 10:00 and 20:00.
