The National Chamber Choir “Madrigal – Marin Constantin,” conducted by Anna Ungureanu, continues the tradition of Madrigal Christmas concerts and invites the public in Bucharest to two extraordinary carol concerts this December.
❒ The MADRIGAL: CHRISTMAS OF FLOWERS Extraordinary Concert will kick off this year’s series of Madrigal events dedicated to the winter holidays. The concert by the Madrigal Choir, conducted by Anna Ungureanu, will be presented to the public on two consecutive evenings, on December 11th and 12th, starting at 7:00 PM, at the Patriarchal Palace in Bucharest.
Tickets for the concert can be purchased online on the Bilete.ro platform.
Traditional Romanian carols and classical pieces telling the story of Christmas will resonate in the immersive acoustic setting of the Aula Magna “Teoctist Patriarch” Hall. The miracle of Christ’s birth will be celebrated through music and a unique floral décor, full of freshness, color, and fragrance. The concept is designed by Emil Pantelimon, with sound direction by Gabriel Scîrlet, and piano accompaniment by Abel Corban. Children from the Cantus Mundi choirs will join the Madrigal Choir, caroling together with the audience.
❒ The MADRIGAL: CHRISTMAS Mood Extraordinary Concert will be a true universal celebration of Christmas music. The Madrigal Choir, conducted by Anna Ungureanu, will perform on December 18th, starting at 7:00 PM, at the Polytechnic University of Bucharest.
Tickets for the concert can be purchased online on the Bilete.ro platform.
For the first time, the Aula Magna of the Polytechnic University of Bucharest will host a new Madrigal Christmas concert. Audiences will have the chance to (re)discover some of the most famous international carols and sacred music from the Madrigal Choir’s repertoire, along with surprising modern reinterpretations, featuring jazz influences inspired by American holiday music. The concept is created by Emil Pantelimon, with sound direction by Gabriel Scîrlet, and piano accompaniment by Abel Corban. Once again, children from the Cantus Mundi choirs will join the Madrigal Choir.
For over half a century, the events organized by the Madrigal Choir around Christmas have been one of the longest-running and most consistent cultural traditions in Romania. For nearly 60 years, every December, the Madrigal Choir connects with Romanians, celebrating the Nativity on major stages and in sacred spaces in Bucharest and across the country.
