The Water Symphony is the show of music, lights and water that takes place at the fountains in the Piața Unirii/Unirii Square area, Bucharest. In 2024, the event started from May, and September is the last month you can watch the show. The Water Symphony is the event in the center of the Capital that shows the spectators an impressive show of lights, music and water in perfect sync. This year’s show is in its 5th edition.
A 45-minute performance of water games, music and lights can be seen every weekend of the Water Symphony, from May to the end of September, on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings.
On the days when performances take place, road traffic on Unirii Boulevard, the segment between Dimitrie Cantemir Boulevard and Unirii Splaiul (the fountain area) is restricted.
“The Water Symphony, the show of water, music and lights that brings together Bucharest residents and tourists in the center of the Capital, returns with its fifth edition in 2024. This year, we continue to promote authentic Romanian values, but also the most important cultural personalities which contributed to the international recognition of Romania. This year, we will put back on the same firmament the water, music and light shows that highlight Romania’s cultural, historical and scientific heritage, but also the extraordinary performances of our Olympic athletes. Thus, in the year in which we celebrate the centenary of the first Olympic medal in the history of Romanian sports, the fifth edition of the multimedia shows at the fountains is an ode to all the victories of our Olympic champions – SYMPHONY OF CHAMPIONS”, according to Apa Nova Bucharest.
Between July 26 – 27, 2024, respectively August 17 and 18, 2024, the performances at Piața Unirii also included a unique moment with drones, which drew on the sky the Olympic sports in which Romanian athletes participated and made history throughout of time.
September 2024 Show Schedule
In September, the cultural event “Symphony of Water” in Unirii Square, at the fountains, will take place as follows:
- Access to the fountains area: 19:30 – 21:30
- Show starts at: 20:00
Each show lasts approximately 45 minutes. Access is free for everyone who wishes to enjoy the spectacle.
There will be no performances on September 14th and 15th, 2024.
The “Symphony of Water” program was introduced in 2018, marking a new era for the fountains in Unirii Square, Bucharest. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, water shows were suspended from 2020-2021 and resumed in 2022.
The fountains in Unirii Square have been entered into the World Record Academy as the “world’s longest row of choreographed fountains.”
